Cricket

CRICKET Navigation Head of Cricket: Mr D. Kumundati. Terms Cricket is played: 1st and 3rd Term St George’s College has four representative age groups U14, U15, U16, and Seniors with 1st and 2nd Teams. In the junior teams we have As and Bs each team consisting of 12 players. The school is in the “A” league along with other schools such as: Falcon ,Peterhouse Boys, Hellenic Academy, St John’s College along with many more. The College is committed to make sure all cricket players develop to their full potential through special coaching programmes by the coaching staff and support of the College Cricket Committee. Cricketers are expected to attend all training sessions and given a chance to showcase their talent against other school and to exhibit the highest level of sportsmanship and integrity. The School mainly compete in 50over matches and T20 version. St George’s annually host the Cabs Sponsored T20 annually which is a big tournament in Southern Africa. In this tournament some of the top schools in SA such as St Andrew’s, St Benedicts and St John’s Joburg attend the tournament while our top school in Zimbabwe such as St John’s, Falcon, Peterhouse also take part. Through the very supportive cricket community of the College, over the years, Saints has proudly produced cricket players who have proudly represented Mashonaland Province and Zimbabwe at national level as well as internationally, once leaving the College to pursue tertiary education.

Hockey

HOCKEY Navigation Head of Hockey: Mr D. Kumundati, Terms Hockey is played: 1st and 2nd Term St George’s College has four representative age groups U14, U15, U16, Boys Senior Teams and Girls 1stTeam. In the junior teams we have As and Bs each team consisting of 16players and the senior age group we have 3 teams. The school is in the Northen “A” league along with other schools such as: Peterhouse Boys, Hellenic Academy, St John’s College along with many more while the girls are still to join a league. As a College, we are committed to make sure all hockey players develop their skill in a fun and conducive environment enhanced by our permanent staff and external coaches. All hockey players are expected to attend all training sessions and all given a chance to showcase their talent against other school and to exhibit the highest level of sportsmanship and integrity. Over the years, the College has proudly produced hockey players who have proudly represented Mashonaland Province and Zimbabwe at national level. In support is the Hockey Parents Committee to drive our development programs and hosting of the St George’s College annual event the Hockey 5s tournament

Rugby

RUGBY Navigation Head of Rugby: Takudzwa Gwariro. Teams: ‘A’ & ‘B’ for U14, U15, U16. 4ths, 3rds, 2nds and 1sts (Dragons). Rugby is played in the 2nd Term and is one of the biggest sports at the College. All fixtures held are always eagerly anticipated, pulling large and diverse crowds from all walks of life. While on the field, success is a priority – the values of: commitment, passion, player development and pride in the school, are at the forefront of our rugby programme. It is our aim to produce a safe learning environment for all players, staff, coaches and all involved to enjoy the game of Rugby. The College regularly produces provincial and national players at U14, U17 and U19 level, as a testament to the quality of individual players and teams produced whilst at the College.
